Call the Center:
No one listens to me around here anymore. That's why I call and call until I get her. She listens to me.
"Hello?"
I get paid 6 times higher than an average person in my country. I get to work in an air conditioned office.
"One moment, sir."
We tried and tried. 20 years and then we stopped. She's much better now. I'm a wreck. The kids, well, I just tell them to follow their dreams at an early age and let everything else follow.
"Hello?"
They always call and complain. They yell and yell. The ones that are nice are generally incompetent. I answer the same problems every single day. This man might get me fired if they listen to the calls. But I look forward to his call every night.
"Sir, your name and registration number please."
I have all the toys I want. I have my health. I used to have no time and now that is all I have. I don't know where to start. Everyone I meet is damaged goods. What good is in this world anymore? Where did those people go?
"Hi. This is Monica, right?"
I watch American movies to better understand these people. I changed my name to Monica because of the Friends show. My real name is Sangita. In my previous call centre job, I used to do taxes for these people. How do they live like this? They have these devices and complain and complain if I can't help them. Their tax returns are more than my people's income in a year.
"Thank you for calling ______ Corporation. This is Monica. How can I help you today?"
Good. It only took me 28 calls to get to her today. There are 50 employees in her section. She has one child. Her husband is a consultant for ***.
"Hi Monica. How's the weather in India today?"
This man Mr. Jerry is recently divorced. He is charming however. He calls and makes me say things in which I do not understand, but then he also sends me money to my home address after our calls. I should not be doing this, but the money he sends will send my child to a prestigious university. My husband saw the mail one day so I cannot surprise him anymore. At first he was mad, but he is not anymore. We are going to start a new business with Jerry.
"Hi Jerry! The weather is fine, thank you."
It's damn hot in here. Damn hot. Did I put the damn furnace on? I better make sure the blinds are shut too. What is important is that I end this call quicker than usual so I can go watch my team play tonight. That's important to me right now. That's what I have besides Monica here.
"It's nice and cool here Monica. Nice and cool. Okay. I want you to say this to me, slowly...."
