In Mexico one day in the past, I was at a drinking hole at about noon for happy hour (noon to seven) with two of my great friends. An expatriate who posed as a business consultant was sitting at the bar working on the waitress/bartender he met the night before. An older couple was seated on the other side of the bar and they were loving happy hour too. The owner was also foreign to the land and named Sharkey and he had a sidekick who was a big guy with a scar on his face and also a toothpick in his mouth. Big Guy went to grab food at the restaurant across the street while Sharkey kept insulting the expat without him even knowing it. What a different world that was.

Email me your address and I'll send you a postcard one day with a true story like that, or one that I might make up. You'll probably like the postcard picture if you don't like what I write.

Grin and Bare:

In a world that may have us one day wearing gas masks to protect ourselves from environmental hazards, a smile is something that is to be treasured. It is always a good thing.

Walking down the streets can be depressing. Most people are straightfaced and they are in their own zone.

I commented to my friend on how it is great to walk by a beautiful woman on the street and see her smiling. It's very rare. You see, the smile makes her more beautiful.

Walking by a smiling woman is a rare feat.
Perhaps it's because there are bad people on the street,
Instead of being courteous, they treat them like meat.
Or a smile might have once attracted a deadbeat.

There are many reasons not to smile. Too many unfortunately.

That's why you have to just let loose once in awhile.
