Let's see here. Today I read that the banana might be going extinct. The article was made amusing to me by someone who said something about it saving Africans from starving and hunger. Yeah, sure. They'll hand them out to them too. It's in their genetics to help the needy.

The Captain

He, nee The Captain, practiced for years for a moment like this. The battle of two undefeated basketball teams and this game had come down to the final seconds and it was a close one. The opposing team scored to take a 1 point lead and there were 8 seconds left in the game. His team had no timeouts and he instinctively ran down the court to the right hand side of the other team's basket. His teammate inbounded the ball and then it was passed to him down the court, where he was unguarded along the baseline. The Captain quickly shot the ball and it went in! The other team tried a desperation shot from full court but it missed as the time ran out. He, nee The Captain and his team had won!

After the game, the sports reporter didn't take him seriously because he gave a canned answer to the reporter's questions. He didn't care though, he told him to make some stuff up for the papers. He wanted to get back home to go to the highschool dance and party with his friends. He wanted to drink and he really needed a smoke. Then, as he was ready to hop on the bus, a parent of one of his teammates came up to him and said, "That was a close one." The Captain smiled and nodded. Then the parent said, "Your shot is flat, I'm surprised it went in." The Captain then concluded that the only hero and role model that night was the person who got them their booze back home because his friends and him were below the legal drinking age.
