Movie Review: MULHOLLAND DRIVE
Entertainment Value: 5 out of 5
Howdy. I rented Mulholland Drive last night. Directed by David Lynch of Twin Peaks fame. See it once. See it again. Only if you like movies that aren't too predictable. This to me is one of those "love it or hate it" movies. It turns out that this was originally meant to be a pilot for a TV series. ABC didn't have the balls to carry it. I don't watch much television, but if this was on right now, I would get cable again. Curb Your Enthusiasm is the only good show out there right now in my opinion.
Anyway, Mulholland Drive is a rollercoaster ride and was fun to watch. An aspiring starlet from Deep River, Ontario goes to Hollywood and lots of shit happens. Suspense, humour, darkness, horror, love, and sorrow were everywhere in this masterpiece.
Highlights: Look for "The Cowboy". Great character. The "boardroom expresso/this is the girl" scene was by far one of the best movie moments I've seen in ages. Shit, Billy Ray Cyrus is even in this movie. The leading characters were performed very well by Naomi Watts and Laura Elena Harring.
